Richard Henegan Jr was born in Vicksburg, MS in 1952, the second child and oldest son in a family that would eventually climb to ten children. He was raised in Fort Worth, TX and graduated from Nolan High School. From there he attended the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry. Accepted into medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX, he graduated in 1978 and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha honorary fraternity for outstanding academic status. Next he moved to Dallas, TX where he completed a four year residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1982.
Dr. Henegan opened a private practice in Arlington, TX where he remained until 1991. At that time he moved to Washington State where he established a new practice and has been there ever since. His drive to write and publish fiction novels had to wait until he was afforded time to do so. Gestation:Unborn Hostage is the author’s first published novel, while another is in the works.
Richard has pursued many hobbies in his life that include acquiring a private pilot’s license, scuba diving, fly fishing, alpine, cross country skiing and camping. His love of the outdoors is what drew him to the beautiful state of Washington. Every opportunity he gets to fly fish in Montana though, is considered a treat.
Currently, he lives outside of Olympia, Washington where his practice is located. Two grown daughters, Jennifer and Alyson reside in Texas. He lives with his wife Jami, stepdaughters Nicole and Samantha along with a host of animals that include three dogs, two cats, and a parrot.
